Aspen Chess Club

Welcome to the Aspen Chess Club web site. The Aspen Chess Club meets in the Aspen Elementary School Gym every Thursday after school from late September to Spring Break, except for holidays and conference weeks (i.e. chess club meets any Thursday that there is a full day of school). Chess club runs from 3:15 to 4:15 (for younger kids) and until 5:00 for the full session.

This is an all-volunteer organization, and we encourage parent, grand-parent, and experienced teen helpers. We have more than 50 elementary students in our club, from Aspen Elementary School and other schools, including home schooled students. We do not limit membership to Aspen Elementary students only -- any students K-6 are invited. You may email us for more information on our meetings.

Check the Event Calendar for upcoming Events. We'll update it for the 2011-2012 season whenever dates are finalized. Also check out the "New Mexico Scholastic Chess Organization" website (see Links) for other upcoming events and information.

Currently Registered: Check to see if your kid is registered.

Volunteer Schedule: Please sign up for open slots.

Please sign up for open Thursday afternoon volunteer slots above: recommend ~2 slots per child. Note that you don't need to know anything about chess to volunteer - what we need are parents to make sure the kids are playing chess and not goofing around. Ideally the volunteers should keep the peace so the coaches can try to coach.

Name of Member(s)
The Aspen Chess Club gets no money from the school. Everything is paid for by member donations, and revenue from tournaments which are 100% volunteer efforts. Please donate the recommended amount above if you are able. The button above will pay via PayPal (you do not need an account, only credit card). You can also pay by check at chess club - check made out to "Aspen Chess Club". PayPal is preferred because it makes things (e.g. record keeping) easier.
